Tonight, Jared Stone, Matt Pocratsky, and I stayed in the shelter.<\/p>\n
I woke up today thinking that I was going to have a decently busy day ahead of me. I raced out the door this morning on my way to work, and even managed to make it to a gas station in time to pick up a couple vitamin waters for the day. I finished up work at about 5, and walked out the door towards my truck.\u00a0<\/span> Everything changed.<\/p>\n I had received a simple text message with 1 word in it. Earthquake.<\/p>\n In that instant the rest of my day changed, I was suddenly without a home to return to for the night.<\/p>\n Now let’s be upfront, my home isn’t really gone. The “earthquake” was a fictional occurrence. My family is safe and sound, and I know where they are (mostly anyways).<\/p>\n For Haitians 20 months ago, the earthquake was real. Over 1 million were displaced from their homes, many loosing possessions, family members, and even limbs. Many of them are still displaced or homeless almost 2 years later.<\/p>\n So tonight I spend my first night in a temporary shelter. I will not return home until we bring 2 Haitian families home. $11,000 is the goal.<\/p>\n God grant me strength.<\/p>\n
