Tonight has been a night filled with questions. How do we move forward from here? What’s our next step? Why is it so cold in August? How do you address the problems around you?
When I went to Nicaragua last summer I met a man I am now proud to call friend. He had a simple mantra that made quite an impact. It was this…”see a need, meet a need”. He lived it out radically…to the point where he would have switched shoes with a Nicaraguan if they had been the right size.
One day while we were busy making lunch for ourselves, I noticed that he had jumped to the front of the line which was completely out of character for him. A few moments later it became clear. A small boy was sitting a table next to us…and Tim walked over and gave him the lunch he had made. It never even occurred to me that we could do something for that boys need. Tim met one of his needs right there.
How often do we overlook needs because we are overwhelmed by what we see around us? Tim saw a need, the boy needed food…Tim gave up what he had for another. Tim didn’t starve that day…and neither did that boy.
I have a place to call home. Many Haitians only have a temporary shelter designed to last 2 years. I have a few bucks…it isn’t much, but if everyone gives a little, 2 families in Haiti get to go home.
They need a home…I give up my home…
They get to go home…I get to go home.
$11,000 is the price tag…we can’t do it on our own.
Bring us home.

P.S. Why is it so cold??? Seriously! I’m freezing my nose off here! A nice warm bed would sure hit the spot…
